Cost Segregation Consultant

Our Company:

Cost Segregation Reports is a national specialty tax consulting firm.  We serve CPA groups, CRE’s, and business owners around the Country.  Our expertise is in preparing cost segregation studies to property owners. Our studies determine what you can depreciate, when you can depreciate it, and they are highly accepted by the IRS.

 

Role Overview:

As a consultant in our Cost Seg practice, you will help our clients as you develop compliant and comprehensive cost segregation studies that maximize tax benefits. Our Cost Segregation team is responsible for utilizing construction cost estimating procedures to maximize tax depreciation which in turn reduces our client’s federal tax burden. We utilize a detailed engineering analysis requiring a review of architectural documents as well as detailed on-site inspections. The information gathered is utilized to apply the proper asset classifications based on our in-depth knowledge of the Tax Code.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reach out and communicate with CRE’s, CPAs, and clients to understand needs
  • Analyze available construction cost documentation
  • Examine available construction blueprints/CAD drawings to identify and properly classify all depreciable assets
  • Conduct on-site inspections to document the use of depreciable property.
  • Cost estimating using programs such as RSMeans & Marshall Valuation Service when actual costs are not available
  • Prepare detailed schedules & reports summarizing and supporting the results of depreciation analysis

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a focus in accounting, business, construction management, or engineering
  • 1-3 years of accounting or engineering/construction experience is desirable, but recent college graduate applications will be considered
  • No prior experience with tax credits is necessary
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, strong and written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel
  • A valid United States driver’s license
  • Ability to travel independently or as part of a team to client locations throughout the USA
Director of Business Development - Cost Segregation

Our studies determine what you can depreciate, when you can depreciate it, and they are highly accepted by the IRS. 

 

Role Overview:

As a member of the Sales team, the Director of Business Development role is focused on promoting Cost Segregation Reports’ services and developing new client relationships. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reach out and communicate with CPA groups, CRE’s, and clients to understand needs
  • Proactively identify new client opportunities, potential competition, and possible challenges
  • As needed, work with other members of the sales team to further define customer and market segmentation, develop territory strategy, and develop prospective client relationships.
  • Identify, develop and effectively execute account plans in accordance with company objectives
  • Hit defined annual sales quota

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a focus in accounting, business, construction management, or engineering
  • 2-5 years of professional sales experience
  • No prior experience with tax credits is necessary
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, strong and written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • A valid United States driver’s license
  • Ability to travel independently or as part of a team to client locations throughout the USA
Billing and Accounts Receivable - Cost Segregation

Our studies determine what you can depreciate, when you can depreciate it, and they are highly accepted by the IRS. 

 

Role Overview:

As a member of the accounting team, the Billing and Accounts Receivable role is focused on managing invoicing, A/R, A/P and other administrative functions. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep up with team members regarding the status of projects and schedules.
  • Assist with entering, tracking, updating, and reporting on new and existing sales opportunities within our software program(s).
  • Assist in the preparation of client proposals and engagement letters.
  • Manage detailed client billing process. Maintain up to date vendor files.
  • Assist with monthly client account statement processing and distribution.
  • Ensure appropriate deadlines are met.
  • Communicate with stakeholders on a regular basis with timely practice line updates.
  • Organize and assist with data entry for digital files and information as needed.
  • Assist with travel arrangements for airline, rental car, and hotel for staff.

Qualifications:

  • Self-starter, deadline driven individual who is technologically savvy with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage the varying day to day needs of the team.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable communicating with all levels within an organization.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
  • Time and billing software experience a plus.
  • Ability to learn new software and tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • 2+ years accounting or administrative support experience a plus, preferably in a professional services environment.
